Hi Fi Turntable

I saw this turntable selling at Mustafa Singapore for S$248. It has a Lenco brand which I have not heard before. Model is L-85 and the box stated a USB direct encoding, probably to translate the analog signal to digital format with a USB output for storage. The interesting point is the price which I felt was reasonable, although I have no idea of the quality.

Below the box is an audio technica turntable.

Historically, I had not been playing music on turntable. When I was born, the cassette tape was already available. Hence, all my songs were either kept in cassette format or CD format. Recent years, there was a growing interest in turntable and a revival of audiophile view that the music from turntable is better than CD. Music from vinyl record is argued to be analog and music in its original form. However, none has argued that cassette tape which is also in analog format is of better quality.

As I have not owned a turntable or vinyl record, it would be difficult to comment. But a cheap turntable may make me interested. I have also read that due to the growing interest in vinyl records, the prices of such records have been rising.
